The Canon Pixma inkjet printer is the top model from Canon’s A4 inkjet printer range and is a high performance printer producing quality photos. Its sleek, stylish and low profile design means that it wouldn’t look out of place at home, and you will be pleasantly surprised at how affordable this printer and the replacement compatible cartridges, actually are.
Installation of the Pixma iP7250 is fairly straightforward. You will need perform a print head alignment test in order to ensure that everything is in order, which makes the process more lengthy, however, Canon have provided full instructions that are simple to follow.
It has two paper input trays at its front; the lower of these accepts up to 125 sheets of A4 paper, while the upper tray handles 5 x 7in photo paper. The front cover of the printer releases automatically when it is switched on, and its integrated arm swings out to form the output tray. It is a nice little design, although the arm does need to be extended manually in order to support A4 paper.
This is a fast photo printer, delivering a 4x6in print in just one minute. We also tested the printing of two 10x8in photos, and these took just over 10 minutes. The results for both were especially good; the colour reproduction was superior, and the overall finish was glossy, resulting in a high quality print.
Amazingly, the iP7250 also allows you to print directly onto a disc. This is especially useful if you are putting together a digital photo album as a gift for example, giving it a more professional finish. You can also print stills from a video, a great option if you want to capture and keep a precious moment.
The Canon Pixma iP7250 uses the Canon CLI-550 and PGI-551 inkjet cartridges – five in total – and although there are set up cartridges supplied with the printer, the ongoing cost of replacing the inks, could be costly. Usually, a five-pack will retail at approximately £69, an expensive option when you are printing family photos on a regular basis! However, by choosing a more environmentally friendly option in the form of recycled inkjet cartridges from Red Bus Cartridges, you would be saving around £40 as well as free next day delivery.
An added bonus is that because the iP7250 accepts 5 individual inkjet cartridges, it means that you only need to replace one cartridge at a time. Other printer brands are not so flexible, and running out of one colour can often lead to actually replacing a whole set.
